…the wedding venue is approximately a 50 minute drive from Reno…
…30 minutes of which will be spent driving approximately 10mph on a roughly graded gravel road (USFS Rd. #31002)…
We encourage carpooling and taking your time!
Driving Directions
From Truckee, CA travel east on I-80. Take Exit 2 toward Verdi, NV. Turn right on 3rd St./US 40. Travel 1 mile then turn left on Bridge St.
From Reno, NV travel west on I-80. Take Exit 5 toward Verdi, NV/State Route 425. Stay on Route 425 for 2.5 miles. Turn right on Bridge St.
Once on Bridge St., travel 0.6 miles, then turn right on Dog Valley Road. This road will soon turn into a well-travelled, very roughly graded gravel road (Road #31002).
This road can be rough and often develops washboards, don’t worry! It can be navigated with 2-wheel drive vehicles. We recommend going slow, enjoying the scenery, and getting excited about the upcoming ceremony! It should take you roughly 20-30 minutes of dirt-road driving to arrive.
After 2.5 miles of the roughest road on the entire trip, you’ll find you’ve climbed to the top of a small pass, where there is a large dirt pull-out on your right. Ahead of you the road will fork, becoming Henness Pass Rd (on the left fork) and Long Valley Rd (on the right/forward fork). Continue onto Long Valley Rd and be rewarded with your first views of Dog Valley, spreading out below you! The worst of the road is officially behind you!
For another .5 miles you’ll descend down Long Valley Rd, until meeting Dog Valley Meadow at the bottom, continue forward.
At roughly 4 miles from the dirt road start (and 1 mile from the bridge crossing) the road will seemingly ‘T’. Continue right.
At 5.5 miles you’ll see a large sign, on the road’s left, announcing fire-wood cutting. Keep going strait/right! You’re almost there!
Finally, after traveling 7.2 miles on dirt road, you’ll arrive at Lookout Campground and the official Wedding Fest Site!
Please park along the right side of the road (no parking will be available within the campground itself).
(All potentially confusing points will be signed, promise! Plus, every intersection will have a small road-side sign post denoting the number of the road you’re on, just make sure you stay on #31002)
Remember:
– There’s not a lot of cell service, once you drop down into Dog Valley. Plan your route early, when there is! (screenshot these directions, load the google map, etc.)
– Go. Slow.
– Enjoy the magical mountain views.
– Imagine the fourteen years it took for Nicole and Kyle to find their way back to each other!
